salute to my friends and the end of the year.

I’m only a sophomore, so i’m kind of stuck in the middle. not quite a high school newbie, but certainly not where I’m going. All of my friends are seniors or juniors, so the end of this school year is hard on me. I’m losing many of the best friends I’ll ever have,  and the ones I get to keep around me are leaving next year. I may not know what its like to know its my last year of school or that I have one more to go (like my junior and senior friends), but soon I’ll be able to know what it feels like to finish my race. So instead of talking about what the end of school means to me, I’m going to share a poem I wrote for my senior friends and just my friends in general as we part ways for the summer. To the best friends I’ll ever have, I love you guys and have a great summer and rest of your lives. Continue reading

What writing means to me.

IMG_0169

When I think of what makes me happiest the most, several things come to mind (most of them being food related). But when I really get down to it and decide, writing is the one thing i can always rely on to make me happy. I mean, we cant have steak and bacon and cupcakes every night, but that’s beside the point.  I can always rely on my own mind and creativity to put a smile on my face, or even get out those painful feelings we all have. Sometimes, writing is all I have at night to keep me sane.  Continue reading

The end of humanity

Now, I’m a major conspiracy theorist, so I’ve actually thought about the end of the world a lot. While most people say it will be natural causes that bring the earth to its knees. In my opinion, the human race will be the end of the human race. We live in a world of hate, revenge, and destruction. Always fighting, thinking of ourselves, never worrying about what we are doing to friends, families, and even our own home planet. Continue reading

My realization

We all think we’re the most important thing in the world. Its part of that human instinct to put ourselves first. But we all reach a point in our lives when we realize that it’s just not true. Unfortunately, that time for me came at a very young age. When your the older sibling, you feel like you have to take care of everything and everyone. So when my dad left, that’s what happened. I was only ten at the time, but I still stepped up and took over as another mom for my little brother. I may not have known what I was doing at the time, but looking back, what I thought was just helping out and doing more around the house, it was actually putting myself last and mom and brother first. My childhood ended early, but stepping up as my moms right hand man and my brothers mentor (or should I say tormentor), taught me that part of growing up means putting others before yourself.

when is evil really evil?

The line between what is considered evil and what is considered immaturity is a little blurred. In the wake of so many horrible events that have shaken our country to its emotional core, it seems that all there is in this world is evil. What if, these events aren’t acts of evil, but a lapse of judgement for a person detached from their emotions and reality, that they didn’t grasp how they could hurt someone? What if all this ‘evil’ floating around is just immaturity based on the inability to grasp the consequences of actions? Some people have the inability to grasp the consequences of actions that could hurt someone, does that make them evil? An elephants grief.

Humans are often thought of as the only living beings that can feel emotions, well what about elephants? They are strong, kind, and caring animals, who feel emotions as much as we do. They grieve, much like humans do.  While most animals will leave behind a weak or dying member of their herd or pack, elephants will stay with their injured comrade until they get better or die. They may move on eventually, but upon walking up to a skeleton of their species, they will stop to pay respect to their fallen brethren. Very few animals feel this sense of loss and mourning like elephants do. they have such a wide capacity for feeling grief its almost human, which is surprising. Elephants will actually bury their dead family members, much like humans do, and will visit them years later, often staying for days. The bonds between a family of elephants is very strong, because they live for the same amount of time as humans, which is 70-80 years, so when a member of the family dies, the tragedy strikes the whole herd hard. Elephants are as capable of emotions as humans, feeling grief just as strong as them.

E.coli fears.

In the wake of the latest e. coli outbreak, caused by frozen snack foods, people are more worried about this bacteria. There are many strains of this food borne illness, some good, some bad. Humans naturally have e. coli in our intestines and such to break down food. Most of the time its a good thing, according to microbewiki, but there’s a certain strain, called E. coli O157:H7 that causes food poisoning, which can be deadly. There are many cases a year where people get food poisoning from food that’s supposed to be safe. how does this happen? Continue reading
