My Hobby

A hobby is an activity that you enjoy to do with your free time. It’s something to do when you have nothing else to do, and you don’t want to be lazy all day. People can have many different hobbies. I have more than one hobby, but my favorite is cheerleading.

Cheerleading is an extra curricular activity that I do to take up my free time. Cheerleading is the perfect activity for me because i talk a lot and I’m very loud, and that’s pretty much how a cheerleader is supposed to be. I’ve cheered since I was about 5 years old, and I’ve loved every minute of it. Even though being a cheerleader is fun. it also comes with a lot of hardwork.

When you want to be a cheerleader in middle school and high school you usually have to do a try out to make the team. The try outs are the worst part of it because you are so nervous in front of the judges. Once you get those done and over with and you’ve made the team you get a few weeks off. Tryouts are usually in March and we don’t start practice or go to camp until the summer. Once we start practice in the summer they are usually just couple hour practices to just get little things put together for football season. Our camp we go to is a completely different story though! When we go to camp at USA Cheers in Atlanta, Georgia, we go for three days, and each day is 7 hours. You work your butt of there doing all kinds of things, like stunts, a million cheers and chants, and a few dances. You have to be willing to give your all those three days. Once camp is over we usually go do something fun in Atlanta, but as soon as we get back we’re all pooped and just want to take a shower and get into bed! Once we return home from camp we keep practicing a couple times a week so we don’t forget anything we learned in camp. We practice all through football and basketball season, so we can make sure we’re the best we can be. Even though cheerleading isn’t always fun and games, I still really enjoy it, and it is my favorite hobby.
