E. Coli is a type of bacteria found in the intestines of humans and other animals. Most E. Coli is harmless or just causes mild diarrhea, but some more severe varieties could effect you in a much more serious way. Some of the results are: urinary tract infection, respitory illness, and pneumonia. All of these more serious illnesses could possibly kill someone. There have been many instances when E. Coli has caused people to become ill.
The most recent E. Coli outbreak involved the Rich Products Corp. and their Farm Rich quesadillas. The problem was noticed when someone became ill after eating the quesadillas and they tested the food samples. They found that there was E. Coli in them that was causing people to get sick. There have been 24 cases reported in 15 different states throughout the U.S.
E. Coli doesn’t always hurt you, but it definitely can. It can cause anything from a simple upset stomach to death.
